Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Healthcare AI Implementation Consultant to bridge the gap between cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology and clinical healthcare environments. This role requires a unique combination of technical AI expertise and deep understanding of hospital operations, EHR systems, and clinical workflows. You will lead AI deployment projects from assessment through go-live, ensuring successful adoption that improves patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Location: Remote/Hybrid (willing to travel 30-40%)
Salary Range: $120,000 – $160,000 + Performance Bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Assessment

• Conduct comprehensive AI readiness assessments for hospital clients, evaluating technical infrastructure, workflow integration points, and organizational change management needs
• Design end-to-end AI implementation roadmaps aligned with hospital strategic objectives and regulatory requirements
• Identify high-value use cases for AI deployment including ambient clinical documentation, predictive analytics, revenue cycle optimization, and clinical decision support

Implementation & Integration

• Lead cross-functional teams in deploying AI solutions within Epic, Cerner, Meditech, and other major EHR platforms
• Configure and customize AI applications to align with specific hospital workflows and clinical protocols
• Manage vendor relationships with AI solution providers (Nuance DAX, Google Health, AWS HealthLake, etc.)
• Oversee data integration, API connections, and interoperability requirements for AI systems

Change Management & Training

• Develop and deliver training programs for clinical staff, IT teams, and hospital leadership on AI tools and best practices
• Create user adoption strategies that address resistance and promote engagement with new AI systems
• Design feedback loops to continuously improve AI performance based on end-user input

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure all AI implementations comply with HIPAA, state privacy laws, and healthcare regulatory requirements
• Establish AI governance frameworks including bias monitoring, model validation, and ethical use guidelines
• Document implementation processes and create standard operating procedures for ongoing AI operations

Performance Optimization

• Monitor AI system performance using key metrics (accuracy, adoption rates, ROI, efficiency gains)
• Conduct post-implementation reviews and identify opportunities for expansion or optimization
• Provide ongoing consultative support to maximize value realization from AI investments

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Master’s degree preferred (Healthcare Administration, Health IT, Data Science)
• Epic, Cerner, or Meditech certification highly desirable
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO) a plus

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in healthcare IT consulting or hospital system implementation
• 2+ years working directly with AI/ML technologies in healthcare settings
• Proven track record implementing complex healthcare technology projects on time and within budget
• Experience with EHR optimization, clinical workflow design, or healthcare data integration

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of healthcare AI applications (NLP for clinical documentation, predictive modeling, computer vision for imaging)
• Proficiency with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and healthcare-specific services
• Knowledge of healthcare analytics tools and data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI)
• Experience with AI/ML concepts including model training, validation, and monitoring

Healthcare Domain Expertise

• Strong knowledge of clinical workflows in hospital settings (inpatient, outpatient, ED, specialty care)
• Understanding of revenue cycle management, coding, and reimbursement processes
• Familiarity with quality metrics, patient safety protocols, and clinical decision support systems
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, 21st Century Cures Act

Preferred Qualifications

• Clinical background (RN, MD, PA, NP) or certified clinical informaticist
• Experience implementing ambient AI documentation tools (Nuance DAX, Abridge, Suki)
• Consulting experience with Big 4 firms or healthcare-focused consultancies
• Published articles or presentations on healthcare AI implementation
• Multilingual capabilities for diverse healthcare settings
