Laboratory Information System Manager

HealthTECH Resources has urgent need for a Laboratory Information System Manager for an FTE direct hire position at a hospital in NYC starting ASAP. Prior experience in a similar management level role working with Laboratory Information Management System (LIS/LIMS) applications such as Sunquest, SCC Softlab, and Powerpath is required.

Duties of the Laboratory Information System Manager

  • The LIS Manager will primarily support the laboratory clinical and anatomic pathology applications, including Sunquest, SCC Softlab, Powerpath, and all associated modules.
    • Plans, organizes and directs the day-to-day activities within the department.
    • Assists the Director in implementing operational policies and procedures and ensures operational efficiency is maintained throughout the department.
    • Performs application support including but not limited to: installation, maintenance, trouble shooting and enhancement.
    • Responsible for project planning, status reports, issue tracking and resolution.
    • Participates in programming and/or coding to design specifications and reports for end-user specific needs.

Laboratory Information System Manager Experience/Skills

  • Strong Sunquest and SCC Softlab system knowledge, expertise in use and maintenance of Sunquest Lab System and Sunquest Powerpath.
  • 5+ years of healthcare IT/laboratory information systems support and development experience.
  • Knowledgeable in HL7 interfaces and message structure.
  • Working knowledge of a Clinical Pathology laboratory’s practices and terminology is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of LIS integrations with various downstream systems like EPIC.
  • Ability to understand and satisfy all regulatory measures related to Pathology IT practices. (JCAHO, State agencies, FDA, Meaningful Use, ICD10, etc).
  • Knowledge of Micro/Genlab/Blood Bank Laboratory Instrumentation Interface implementations.
  • Healthcare IT PM experience/PMP training and certification highly desired.
